New Advanced Hawk

Morson Projects internal process of concurrent engineering capability allows us to deliver in challenging timeframes – we delivered the new advanced hawk in 7 months, when the initial forecast was 18 months. The method of Design, Stress & Tooling working together can be seen in the following figure.

Development of concept/DFM for new wing with the introduction of new combat slat was done across 2 sites with:

  • 32 Designers
  • 19 Stress

Design Deliverables:

  • Detailed Design using CATIA V5, R23
  • DFM Drawings
  • Assemblies and installation Drawings
  • Mass Reporting (BOM)

Stress Deliverables:

  • DFM Stress Reports ( Static and F&DT)
  • Checkstress Static and F&DT Reports ( First Flight support reports with a new set of loads)
  • Full wing FEM
  • Analysis using BAE methods ( Analysis tools were developed by Morson Projects based in BAE approved methods)
  • Stress Sort tools for F&DT

PM Reporting:

  • MSP plan with all the deliverables
  • Tracker for daily drumbeats with forecast of all deliverables for the next 2 weeks
  • Spend against progress / EVM – Earned Value Management
  • Analysis/mitigation of critical path
